I'm just starting to get involved in rallycross. Is anyone else out there interested in doing it? As far as I can tell no one around here does it (DM to the Mississippi). It looks like a blast and it might be easier to get places to run than autocross. And looking at the rules, stock calss you can't hardly do much to your car, so if you find a cheap car and a little work it would be a easy sport to get into. Let me know. Mike

You mean there's more open dirt / grass fields in Iowa than big paved parking lots? :)

I think it would be fun...

If anyone wants a car to build into fun rallycross machine, I know where you can get a real cheap '98 Neon ACR - body & suspension are good, the engine isn't (dohc with bad piston slap, sounds like a diesel).

A Miata set FTD at a rallycross in Ozark Mountain region this past weekend. Ahead of an STi, in fact.

:D

How much ground clearance can you get with the Mazdaspeed coil-overs? :)

You don't need ground clearance.
It's a similar concept to riding a snowmobile across a lake. If you just go fast enough, you skip across the top! ;)

I have a call into SCCA asking what needs to be done and what requirements. We will need a Rallycross safety steward, so does any one want to be one? I will let you know what I find out.

Talk to Jan Gerber from NE region (he has an account on this forum). He's a rallycross safety steward and can probably help you out getting started.

I have been very interested in rallycrossing. I was supposed to go to the final LoL region (southern Minnesota) SCCA rallycross last weekend, but it got canceled because of the huge snowfall. I know several guys that would love to give it a try. I'm willing to help out wherever needed to get rallycross going in the DMVR region.

There's a DMVR board meeting tonight, someone could go attend that and talk about any issues we'd have with the board.
