Could you be a little more vague? :)

Seriously, what are you asking?

No, that's about the best I can do.

I don't know anything specific, but I think some others do.

Last I heard, someone was talking to the company that owns the property about purchase and the company was leaning toward selling. I also heard the potential buyers were looking at a country club style track.

But that is all hear say.

Sounds very idealistic.

I drove on the track last summer and it would really tough to get back into driving shape. The track itself would have to be completely redone and there are tons of trees really close to the track that would have to be cut down to make passing even a remote possibility.

I would absolutely love to see this track alive again, but I don't think it would be practical to do so. I hope someone proves me wrong though.

It would have to be a complete re-grade and pavement. They'd need to widen the track in places, and re-do a few corners. There was one in particular, in the middle when you're coming up the hill to the South, the sharp left-hander, where there's armco and a big drop-off right off the edge of the track.

It would be great to see it happen. I'm not sure about the economics of it, but having a facility similar to the Autobahn track in Illinois right here in Central Iowa would be pretty cool.

A track was built in Pacific Junction, IA and Hasting, NE so it is possible. :)

MCCI toured Greenwood July 15. Wendell Holmes set this up with them. The guy who opened the place up for us said the Operating Engineers might be having paving classes. :D

That's interesting. I suggested that they make restoring the track a "class project" 8 or 9 years ago when we were the first to tour the track in modern times for an IPTV "Living in Iowa" program.

Actually looks like a pretty cool layout if maybe a little too busy...

Here's a very slow lap of it in its current condition:

Sorry for the crappy camera angle. My STI turned over to 10k on that track.

The track was included in one of the Ghost track books if I remember correctly. I don't have the book with me right now. Some friends have driven it with the Mustang club and the track is getting worse and worse each year. It would be a total rebuild but may get around some of the legal use issues but has most likely rezoned over the years.
