Anyone else spending time following this year's 24 Hours of Daytona? I'm impressed at how much better the Gen 3 Daytona Prototypes look, especially the "Corvette". Rather strange that the "Corvette" is just a body package, being underpinned by three different chassis types. I've always thought the DPs were just plain ugly but the new cars are a huge improvement. I'm disappointed though that there's now no chance of Alex Gurney repeating his Dad's victory in the first Daytona Continental 50 years ago.

I would agree that the "Corvette" body is a big improvement. Haven't been watching the race, but have been seeing some updates on the race.

I watched about 5 hours on Saturday and 2 on Sunday with another 2 on DVR for me to finish watching at some point. I really like the new Rileys and the Corvettes are pretty slick. I was hoping the #90 "Spirit of Daytona" would put up a better showing and win, but at least it finished. Personally, I enjoy watching the GT battles. The new Ferraris and Audis were fun to watch and I love listening to the in-car footage of the RX-8s. Those things can rev. Watching the coverage of the endurance race makes me want to race a chump car even more now.

Now if they will finally let the Corvette increase its rear wing more and drop some weight to equal out the unfair advantage in their class, maybe they would do better! BNut I guess they dont want the Corvette to always win, even if it is the best car out there!

The Corvette R is pretty nice... got to see one up close at the display at Indy.

Ric was talking about the new Corvette body kit on the Daytona Prototype cars...

The Corvette gets redesigned for next year, too. No photos yet... we are all waiting to see if it is significant. It will be the C7 model.

This should be pretty close (evolution, not revolution-still no mid-engine): http://jalopnik.com/5858683/exclusive-t ... y-corvette

The night racing portion really made me want to get back out there. I love night racing in Chump/Lemons. Friggen blast!
