Does anyone have interest in renting a seat on a potential second Lemons car we may or may not build? Looking to gauge interest before we tear the interior out and cage it. If you know someone who might, post here or have them get in touch with me (cthurston@2itguys.com).

Estimated cost for each race is $850, $950, $1100 depending on if there's 6,5,4 drivers. This is in addition to your personal drivers gear (see also: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2505) Said seat gets you (Normally, assuming nothing breaks) between 2-4 hours of seat time in door to door automotive bliss.

Discounted seat pricing can be earned by crewing @ other events (fun as hell), and we can work something out for a multi-race seat rental. Currently our schedule options are:

L - Gingerman Raceway - 21-22 Apr
L - Autobahn - 9-10 June*
C - Gateway Motorplex - 9-10 June*
C - VIR (24h), - 11-12 Aug
C - Iowa Speedway(24h) - 25-26 Aug
C - Road America - 20-21 Oct
L - Mid Ohio - 27-28 Oct
C - Road Atlanta (14hr) - 8 Dec

and perhaps:
C - Heartland Park (likely 24h) - 22-23 Sept
C - Nelson ledges (25h 25m 25s) - 6-7 Oct

*-not doing both

Come on out, have fun, eat macaroni and cheese @ the thirsty perch, and you may be asked to wear a bear costume and throw candy at people.. :)

-Chip

I can't afford driving at all, but I'd love to come out to one of these and simply help out.

How much would it typically cost to bum floor space for sleeping, food, and possibly a ride in exchange for work? Just the experience alone would be worth it for me.

We generally try to pay for crew bracelets out of team funds if we know ahead of time, and you can probably ride along for free. Generally you're weekend expenses are tied to the food you eat if/when we go to a restaurant. If we have burgers or something @ the track, those are likely out of team funds as well.

It depends on the car. I'd hate to commit, then find out it is another civic. :P

Seriously though, I'd love to do a race. I need to check with the wife and see if she'd allow me to have some "fun money". I may be interested in a race next season.

Same here, we haven't had a lemons car running in 8 months and I would rent a seat, but not in a civic.

The wife wasn't as opposed to the idea of me racing as I thought she'd be. I may be able to purchase a seat next season after all.

Because its about having fun not about just make laps in the most boring car possible. You are supposed to bring something so ridiculous that it will have no chance of finishing. Otherwise just build a real race car and do some real racing.

I bet running a Lemons car is MORE expensive than running a spec miata or 944. The entry fees certainly are.

Chip and I were chatting about this the other day. I think for cost per hour of track time, his expenses for the Lemons team are fairly similar to mine in club racing.

I think doing the Spec Miata / ITA shared car thing is a good way to
go for keeping expenses down.

As far as I know, Bart's Spec Miata is still for sale, would be a way for somebody to get into club racing.

I must be missing something??

A car that does 90 -100 in a straight, 60-80 in corners, passing cars on the straights and corners!!

OH did I mention that the other cars being passed where BMW's and Miata's :o

Just ask Chip how it feels doing the oval at the Iowa Speedway, Pucker up and hold on, he did a hell of a job passing the other fast BMW as I recall.
By the way we should have had 2nd place but we got screwed with 5 penalty laps by the butt heads at Chump, go figure!!

We have a good start on a real race car that is real racy, it takes a real driver to race it.

As a TEAM I think we are having the most fun too, call it what ever you want it's still racing.

I'll take on Champion and his Miata @ MAM any day just give me the same hoosier tires and 2 hours without a break??

I think we need to call up SPEED Channel and get them to facilitate this automotive challenge.
