We are heading out again for the Midwest points series and hope to do better this time.
Last time the weather really sucked, rain-snow etc.
Did the normal maintenance to the car this week.

If we can stay out of the penalty box we should do very well.
The Drivers are John, Jeremy, Yo, Chip and Mikey this is not the order run either,
we may have to draw straws or something.

Wish us all luck, cause it is a lot of luck

John

Last update I saw on FB was that they did a great job fighting up to 2nd place, then Mikey had a wheel hub go out, got towed out of the gravel trap, they got it fixed and back on the track.

Don't know what place they ended up with.

Ended up in 6th, could have done better.

Saturday started out not horrible, with a lot of cars on track, and a lot of cars breaking down. About 90 minutes in, John made a pass under yellow on accident as he could not see the flag through the car he was passing. So we got a black flag that cost us ~3 laps or so. We sent him back out. Yo drove after him and clicked laps off for 150 minutes or so, and then we put Jeremy in the car. Jeremy had the same problem as John, passing while going up the hill from 6-7not able to see the worker station (station is not visible coming out of 6) Once he rounded the car and saw the flag, he backed off but the damage had been done. This was not a simple pass-thru penalty and a lot of drivers were waiting in the penalty box when we got there. This cost us ~5 laps or so. After a few more angry laps by Jeremy, I got in the car and ran for the last 2:25 or so without incident.

Sunday started with Jeremy in the car, as he had "paid" and extra $100 for the weekend due to the donation he made to avoid further penalties for his pass under yellow. He managed to click along for 2:45 before yelling "STARVE STARVE STARVE" and "I'M COMIN IN!"... :) We poured every drop of fuel we had in the car and sent Miley out for the last 2:40 or so. Mikey immediately was radioing that the brakes were not firm, we knew that they weren't always working properly, as I'd had a couple squishy spots the day before, and Jeremy said that there were a couple corners that he always had to pump 2x to get slowed for. We told him to keep driving, as we were in 3rd, and we were done making stops for the day, our competition still had to stop for fuel and to change drivers.

Around the time we should have been moving into second, Miley went to turn into turn 2, and the car decided it was better to go straight, into the weeds... DEEP into the weeds. The wrecker came out, but the car was not able to be towed, as the front wheels were not in agreement on which direction the car should go. A flatbed was called for and the car was ceremoniously dumped in our pit area. After realizing that the hub had exploded and the only thing holding the wheel to the car was the calipers grip on the rotor, we removed the front right hub and replaced it with a backup assembly we had and sent mikey back out on the track. He managed to finish the race taking 6th place, our second best finish in 24 hours of lemons racing after 5 races.

" It looked like the Free Candy Civic would overtake Skid Marks on Sunday, but a wheel hub failure took the Honda out of the Neon’s rear view mirror"
